Salvador Marin – Economistas, Spain
President

Salvador Marin’s professional background spans academia, business and practice. As a practicing economist and adviser he has gained considerable experience in financial economics, financial  information and non-financial reporting and extensive national and international experience in strategic consulting, economics, internationalisation, financial and non-financial reporting and management of SMEs and financial institutions. Presently he is the managing partner of a boutique practice of national and international advisers, member of the Board of Directors of a Spanish company with responsibility for international affairs, senior advisor in a venture capital Company, and General Coordinator for International Professional Regulation at the General Council of Economists of Spain (CGE). Marin boasts substantial international experience gained through his tenure as CEO of COFIDES, the Spanish Development Finance Institution and member of the Boards of Directors of EDFI, Marin has held positions in the field of Public Management having served as a minister in regional government in Spain. Author of over a one hundred books, articles, papers on financial information and non-financial reporting, Marin has experience as a lecturer at university and several national and international business schools. He has a specific recognition of quality as a researcher and knowledge transfer. Marin holds a Doctorate in Economics and Business Administration, specialising in Financial Information and gaining a distinction. Marin is Certified Accounting Expert by the Spanish Register of Accounting Experts.

Johan De Coster – ITAA, Belgium

Johan De Coster has been an accountant for over 25 years. In 1999 he also became a registered auditor. He started his career in 1986 at Van Havermaet where he was a partner for over 20 years. Van Havermaet is a mid-tier accounting and advisory group with 5 offices in Belgium. Johan is still working there as honorary-partner, consulting SME’s and family-owned businesses. Johan is also guest lecturer at the PXL Highschool in Hasselt where he teaches financial accounting. He is also chairman of the local association for accountants and auditors (LVAB). Johan has been a member of the Board of IAB for the past 6 years and he was re-elected in April 2019 for 4 years. Within the institute he is treasurer and chairman of the commission for special assignments. Johan was elected as a member of the EFAA Board in June 2019.

Farouk Boulbahri – CNOEC, France

Farouk Boulbahri obtained his Diplôme d’Expertise Comptable in 2001. From 1998 to 2001, he worked as Junior Accountant at Cabinet Jean-Marc Eyssautier; from 2001 to 2004 he worked as accountant and auditor at Groupe CPECF. From 2004 to 2020, he was President and CEO at Ballatore et Chabert & IMEX

From 2009 to 2018, he was a member of the South French Accounts Committee: PRO PACA; from 2013 to 2016 he was member and Second President of the South French Auditors Committee the Compagnie Régionale des Commissaires aux Comptes d’Aix-Bastia (CRCC Aix-Bastia). From 2017 to 2020, he was Member of the Board of the National French Auditors Committee and also Member of the Mediterranean Arc of Auditors (AMA). Between 2017 and 2020, he was President of the South French Auditors Committee: Compagnie Régionale des Commissaires aux Comptes d’Aix-Bastia (CRCC Aix-Bastia). Since 2023 he is Member of the National French Accountants (CNO): International committee. His key expertise includes Audit, cybersecurity and risks and Frauds in the company. 

He was elected EFAA Board member in May 2023.

Gerard van IJzendoorn – NBA, the Netherlands

Carlos Menezes, M.Acct, Ph.D. – OCC, Portugal

Dr. Carlos Menezes is a Lecturer in Financial Accounting, in Ethics, Deontology and Accountability and in Research on Accounting for Public and Non-profit Organizations at the School of Economics and Management in the University of Minho (PT). Dr. Menezes is a graduate of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa: BCh (Management); University of Minho: M.Acct (Accounting and Auditing); Federation University: Ph.D. (Accounting).

Dr. Menezes has held different management positions in the Portuguese government, mainly in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Labour. He has been a guest speaker on employment policies and on accounting and accountability in private and public organizations for industry and academic organizations. Dr. Menezes has over 20 years of university experience in teaching accounting subjects. Dr. Menezes’ main research interests are broadly concerned with Social and Environmental Accountability; Accounting in the private, public and nonprofit sectors and Accounting and Management History.
Since August 2018, Dr Menezes is the Administrator of the University of Minho in Portugal; since June 2018, he is a member of the Portuguese Accounting Standards Setter.

Dr. Menezes was elected as a member of the EFAA Board in June 2018.

Ciprian Teodor Mihăilescu – CAFR, Romania

Ciprian Mihăilescu has a bachelor’s degree in economy, he obtained his auditor qualification in 2008, he also has a PhD Degree-Accountancy obtained in 2012 and is a Public Acquisition Expert since 2011.

Since 2020, Ciprian is the President’s advisor on international relations at CAFR. Between 2017 and 2020, he was President of CAFR and between 2014 and 2017, he was senior-Vicepresident of CAFR.  He works at SC Eval Expert S.R.L since 2009 and he is the General Manager sinde 2014. From 2007 to 2009, he was Branch Manager (Pitesti Branch) at GarantiBank International NV Romania Branch. between 2002 and 2007, he was Corporate Customer Service Manager (Branch Pitesti) at RBS Romania (eg ABN AMRO Bank Romania). From 2001 to 2002, he was General Manager at SC Romas Leasingtur SA and between 1999 and 2001, he was Inspector Investment at Ensure Ceccar Romas SA.

Ciprian speaks Romanian, English and some French.

Ciprian was elected as a member of the EFAA Board in May 2023.

Aleksander Štefanac – GZS-CAS, Slovenia

Aleksander Štefanac is the owner and general manager of FACTA d.o.o since 1993.

He obtained the certificate of qualification for managing accounting companies in 2001. 

For the last 16 year, Aleksander has been the President of the Chamber of Accounting Services, an Associate member of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has been elected for a new 4 year mandate in April this year. 

He is the Vice president of Committee on Unification of the Accounting Professional Group which is founded by 11 professional organizations, the tax administration and faculties.

He is also the Chairman of the Certification Commission at that Committee.

Aleksander is an EFAA Board member since 2018.

Marcus Tuschen – DStV, Germany

Marcus Tuschen is a Tax Adviser and Certified Auditor. Since 1991 he has been a partner in a small practice of around 30 employees in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. After finishing his Business Studies at the University of Paderborn in 1985, he worked as a Tax Consultant and Audit Assistant. After becoming a certified Tax Adviser in 1989 and a Certified Auditor in 1991 he was promoted to be a partner of the practice. While the focus of his work is audit, accounting and tax advice for SMEs he also works as a certified quality control auditor. Marcus has been a member of the Board of the Association of Tax Advisers of Westphalia-Lippe since 1999 and its President since 2011; he is also Vice President of the German Association of Tax Advisers (DStV) since 2013. Marcus has been an EFAA Board member since 2016.
